Why choose Sixtyone North?
We build our workshops around the idea of personal attention.
Our groups are kept small and each workshop will feature two guides. Days are built around a photographers schedule. We start well before the sun rises and end after the sun sets. You will have plenty of time to get your shots and easy access to your guides. Whether you need help with your exposure or just need someone to hold your 1.4 tele-converter; we’re there the whole time to ensure that you get the shots you came for and have a great time doing it. We enjoy the relationships that we build with our clients and are proud to call them friends and peers. Having two guides affords us the luxury of working with varied skill levels. No one will feel left out of the learning process during our workshops. We are happy to adjust training based on your needs and the skill level of each participant.
We have limitless expectations of service. You won't find anyone more passionate about photography and instruction. Our guides know what you expect from a photographic workshop. We realize that you look forward to not only images of a lifetime, but also memories and friendships that will last forever. Our research, planning, and experience will place you in the best environment under the most favorable circumstances available. While other organizations offer canned trips to frequently visited destinations, Sixtyone North looks beyond logistical limitations to exciting new destinations.
Sixtyone North is an Alaskan company. Our centralized location offers us the opportunity to scout new locations year round. From the Inside Passage to Denali National Park and North to Barrow, we have the experience and resources to build you a custom workshop.
We currently have 14 Workshops scheduled for the 2009 season. Some of the destinations and activities include:
Bald Eagles of Homer, Northern Lights at Chena Hot Springs, Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival in Cordova, Kayaking adventures in Prince William Sound, St. Paul Island in the Pribilofs for birding, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Bald Eagles of Haines. We have another customized tour that starts in Kenai Fjords National Park and ends with a view for Mt. McKinley (weather permitting). Photo opportunities for participants on this 5 day trip may include whales, puffins, calving glaciers, ice berg choked bays, shore birds, sea birds, black bears, brown bears, mountain goats, Dall sheep, moose, bald eagles, and mountain-filled landscapes. If we left anything out, Alaska won’t.
Make your first trip to Alaska and you will be hooked. If you have already been to Alaska, allow us to show you a different Alaska ... Your Alaska!
If you choose to travel to Alaska on your own, send us an email and we will be happy to help you plan your trip. Ultimately, we are photographers that enjoy helping other photographers and sharing knowledge with one another.
